Coffee Station

I made myself a coffee station in the kitchen, and I love it! I head straight here every morning. 🙂

I moved all the kids craft stuff that was there before to the kitchen table.

Over where that table was is now the bench chest, and the kids each have a shoe basket.

Clean Up Crew

They got tiny Styrofoam balls ALL over the kitchen so I made them clean it up. Will started it in the corner, but Timmy really took off with it.

Timmy has learned to use the vacuum cleaner. He tends to miss  a lot though. I should definitely  give him some more practice!

Lexa was sweet, helping sweep up even though she didn't take part in the Styrofoam pandomoneum free for all that had just taken place.

Clutter!

We sit down to read or play, and the kids riveted. Me? I’m trying to ignore the pile of dirty dishes in my peripheral vision.

”Good moms have sticky floors, dirty ovens, and happy kids,” I say.

What if they could have all the experiences that lead to sticky floors, and I could have a home that felt peaceful?

I've gradually started dealing with the clutter so that I can start spending more quality time with them.

Clutter takes up space, both physically and mentally,  and I’m finding that dealing with clutter is creating space for a lot more joyful moments in my life. It’s still a work in progress, but it feels so much better.

Organized clutter is still clutter though. Life is messy. Houses get messy, and that’s okay! However, I hope it can be possible to have great experiences – even ones that make big messes – and then default back to a peaceful, organized home.

Over the next few weeks I'm challenging myself to go through my house room by room and see how many things I can find to get rid of!

I started with our master bath, and found five things. I also did our living room, threw a lot of trash away and putting things away, but didn't find anything to get rid of there..

I'm going to keep going through the rooms as I get a chance, and I'll post my running tally. Feel free to join in too!
