Baby Names

I love the name Alexandra Virginia, but it's apparently taken by a city, one that everyone's heard of but Patrick and I. So now we're not sure about the name. Patrick really wants to keep Alexandra, so we're thinking about Alexandra Catherine.

Goofball

Give Timmy two cups and this is what he does. I'm glad I had the camera handy.

Nap on the Floor

Yesterday Timmy just grabbed a pillow and a blanket and took a nap on the floor. So sweet.

Star Wars and Meerkats

I was letting Max dog inside and told Timmy that Max was going to eat the crackers he hadn't finished, and Timmy said "NO" and grabbed all four crackers and stuck them in his mouth at once.

He likes to tell me things he's seen, whether he's actually seen them or not. Today he said, "Timmy saw a big turkey." The other day he said he saw a monkey climbing a tree outside, and one morning we woke up and he said that he'd seen an airplane flying. Patrick and I wondered if he'd been dreaming about an airplane.

We were watching Stars Wars Episode IV last night, and Timmy was really into it. He usually doesn't pay much attention to what Patrick and I are watching, unless there's a horse or a car commercial or something, but he likes Star Wars. He kept pointing out space ships and wookies. He also likes Meerkat Manor. It's a Discovery Channel show about meerkats, and, according to Timmy, the height of comedy.

GOAL!

Patrick's soccer team has won two playoff games! It's really exciting even though it means he has to go to more games instead of being at home with us. They are playing in the third round tonight.

Alice Springs Chicken Re-Creation

We don't have an Outback Steakhouse here, so I googled my favorite thing to get there, the Alice Springs Chicken recipe, and I made it for dinner last night. It tasted just like it. Yum Yum. Patrick even said he liked it. Later on, dancing ensued. (See the next post.)

Hooked on a Feeling

Dancing With Daddy

They're doing a stomping dance while Patrick sings the song "Hooked on a Feeling".

girl, Girl, GIRL!

Baby #2 is a ... GIRL! We're so excited. We're going to have a daughter! Wow. The ultrasound technician was pretty confident about it. She wasn't in the most photogenic position, but you can see her hands and feet and head in the pictures. In the top one Patrick says she's holding up her finger saying she's number one. She already weighs two pounds. The doctor said she's within what's normal for size and he doesn't see any problems. I really couldn't decide whether I wanted another boy or a girl before before finding out, but I was so thrilled when the technician said it was a girl. I started to cry a little. Then I cried again when I called my mom in the doctor's waiting room. I was so happy. Other people in the waiting room could hear and were smiling at me. I just called and asked her if she could receive photos on her cell phone, because we wanted to send her a picture of her granddaughter! It was really fun to tell her because I think she was hoping for a granddaughter. She loves her girls and all things girly so much. We sent my sister a picture too, and she sent us a message back saying that she shrieked in the elevator when she got it. Everyone's really excited.

I can't wait to meet little baby Lexa. I think we're going to name her Alexandra Virginia Peabody. It's a mouthful, but it's the only name we've agreed that we both like so far. Virginia is my mom's middle name. Oh no, I'm getting teary eyed again..... so happy.

A boy or a girl

So is baby #2 a boy or a girl? A boy would be nice. Timmy would have a buddy. We'd be a team and do boy stuff all the time. Sounds like a fun, active life being the mom of two boys. A girl would be something new. Pretty dresses, I could share the girl stuff I liked growing up, and be friends when she grows up like my sister and I are with our mom. So a boy or a girl........ We'll find out tomorrow.

Timmy and Daddy

Timmy has decided he'd like to be raised solely on popsicles. He's constantly requesting them and telling me what color he wants. I tell him no more and he says "pwease, last one" so sweetly. He also knows that if someone is climbing a ladder, they must be going to go down a slide, and if Patrick takes off his shirt, he must be going to bed, even if he's not. Patrick has now taught him to recognize the superman symbol, batman symbol, and pictures of Kyle Field, the football stadium at A&M. He calls football, Helmet ball, which Patrick thinks is a better name anyway. Lately he likes to sing Ooga Chucka, ooga chucka, la, la, la. He's memorized the first few pages of his book, "Brown bear, brown bear, what do you see", and is picking up song lyrics like crazy. Patrick has also got him repeating things after him like "Dude, that's awesome." It's been so nice having Patrick home this week for Spring Break. He's been gone so much lately with either basketball games, track meets, or soccer games. Me and Timmy miss him. All those sports seasons end in just a couple of weeks though, so it's not so bad now. The soccer team made the playoffs and won their first playoff game on Friday, which is exciting. I'd like the games to end, but then it's kind of neat to have his team winning.

Fixing the Warp Drive

Patrick pointed out that this childrens' museum activity looked like he was fixing the warp drive on Star Trek.

Houston Childrens' Museum

Timmy had tons of fun at the Children's Museum in Houston. He ran all over the place, filled with glee, and played with everything. He liked playing with cars and trucks best, more than anything else. Patrick and I got so worn out chasing him around.

Looking for Bugs

Timmy wanted me to move some bags that were there so he could find some bugs. He saw worms, rolly polly bugs, ants, a spider, and some other bugs. Lots of fun.

Saint Patrick's Day

I made a St. Patty's day cake out of snack cakes, and had a treasure hunt for Timmy. I drew pictures of objects in the living room (the couch, the tv) and taped them to the objects, one leading to the next, and walked around with him finding the clues. At the end was a pot of plastic gold coins and beads. He caught onto the game pretty fast. He's been playing with the beads all day. I never knew there were so many things to do with plastic beads, shake them and make noise, stand on them, tangle animals in them and pull them around, put them on toys and the dog, pretend like they are water... Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

A Drink of Water

Little Bird

We took a picture of Timmy at the zoo in the bird nest again, like last year. He's so big now! Not a baby anymore!

Zoo Day

We spent yesterday at the Houston Zoo. Timmy had a great time. He laughed at the monkeys again and loved running around and climbing on everything at the children's zoo. He was really interested in the snakes this year and picked out snakes in the gift shop. He chose the purple snake over all the other colored snakes. (I hope he never wants a pet snake.) He thought the helicopters flying over in the sky from the hospital were just as neat as the animals. He enjoyed riding a the carousel and waved at the parents every time we went around. He rode a black pig like the one we had just seen, and he finally got to ride on a train. He didn't like waiting in line to ride though. He was so tired by the time we left. So was I.

Kick, Kick

Patrick felt the baby kick for the first time last night. We went out to a movie together and were sitting with his hand on my belly. The baby was only kicking where Patrick's hand was, and when he moved his hand the baby started kicking in the new spot! I remember that Timmy would always freeze when Patrick would put his hand on my belly to try to feel him kicking.

Patrick was excited that it was while we were watching the movie, The Watchmen, that he felt the first kick.

Playing Piggy

We played this game many times yesterday. I had a piggy tail too.

Chatty Timmy

We've been enjoying talking with Timmy. Patrick's taught him to say "Timmy's awesome!" and "Gig 'em". He also recognizes wookies and says "Chewbaca". He picks up new words so fast. Some things he says I've only said one time or didn't even think he was listening.

Crazy Weather

So yesterday it was summer, today it's winter in March, 40 degrees colder. Timmy had to bundle up.

Popsicle Face

Timmy's crazy for popsicles lately.

Meet the Animals

We took Timmy to the livestock show at the county fair this weekend to see the animals. He petted a horse and some rabbits. He kept saying, nice horse, nice rabbits, nice goats. I think he liked the pigs best, and all they were doing was sleeping. He also liked the tractors, of course. He thought the rodeo arena was a basketball court and wanted someone to come play basketball for him. I guess he's been to a bunch of Daddy's basketball games.
