2nd week of September- Is it fall yet?

Definitely not fall here. The car says it's 101 degrees F today...

Events of this week:

On Monday, September 11, the claases at school took drawings and baked goods to the police and fire station to say thank you. Will told me at least three times that he got to ride on a school bus, and then asked if we could get a school bus instead if our car.

Tuesday was grandparents day at school. Lots of local grandparents came to eat lunch at the school.

Will drew a picture of a rainbow world, he says.

Timmy and Lexa ran for student council office. They stayed up late making some silly posters with Patrick.

Lexa wrote a speech she read to her class. Part of what she wrote: "I'm smart. I'm generous. I'm talented, and I'm a good friend." ❤️

I'll upload the video of Timmy's speech for student council president here at some point. Patrick sent me a text with the video right after he gave it. I hadnt heard it before. It made me cry. He talked so bravely and openly about himself.

A little while later, I got another text from Patrick that said, "Holy crap! He won."

We're all so proud of him. When he said he was running for student council president, we were a little prssimistic about his chances, I think. He didn't even win as a class representative last year. Way to shoot for the moon, Timmy. He proved us wrong, and did it. Everyone at school and teachers around town have been high fiving him and congratulating him all week. His speech was really moving for everyone. He led his first meeting on Friday.

To top it off, Lexa also won her election as one of her two class representatives.

This weekend was another flag football game.
On Friday I took the kids straight to the river after school. It's so beautiful there. The kids were so happy swimming, they didn't fight a single time.

Wr tried to play a board game when we got home, but that's when the crying started. They were just very worn out!

Weekly update August 28-September 10

I've already managed to miss a week on these! So this will be a two week update.

Most weekday evenings Lexa and/or Will have had football and/or cheer practice. Sometimes I take Hugh for a stroller stroll during them. Lately he's been insisting I set him free to piddle around. The first day he kept trying to run out after Will onto the football feild, run after them and go after the football, but he seems to get it now that he has to stay off the feild, out of the way. He loves these big tires.

Timmy can slide and swing while reading at the same time while we were waiting for Lexa's practice.

Patrick surprised the kids with foam swords, sheilds and nerf guns. An impromtu living room melee imediately ensued.

Hugh wanted to play too.

We went to the town pep rgally. I took this photo remembering one I'd taken of baby Will up on Patrick's shoulders at the Elgin town pep rally a few years ago.

Here's the old one of Will.

I usually can't get Hugh to keep his clothes on. The other day he did the oppisite and wanted to wear all his shirts at once. He was walking around like he was wearing a ski suit. He couldn't lower his arms all the way.

They had their first flag football game this weekend with big opening ceremonies at the high school football stadium.
We were surprised by an EMS helicopter landing to deliver the game ball. Timmy, a helpful opposing fan, and I were just in time to catch our awning before it blew away!
It was very exciting.

The kids were wiped out after that. Lexa pretended to take a nap on the car ride home.

Here's a couple more of the week's pictures.

Will dressed himself and said he is the principal.

Hugh took a selfie.
