Made Me Smile Today 2017

I usually save these as a draft then post them at tge end of the year, but I've accidently posted it, and this ap doesn't seem to be down with me changing that. So I guess I'll just keep adding days to the bottom of the post.

July 31
Will likes dressing up in costumes. He put his bear hat from Sara and Kenny's wedding on today and said cute things.

Hugh climbed on Lexa's back to ride her like a horse.

Hugh has finally! started saying a few new words, bike, ice, up, off, and MINE!

One of the stray cats (Timmy named her Psycho) has suddenly become friendly and came up to me and nuzzled my leg. Her three tiny kittens have started toddling around the porches. They're so adorable. It makes me happy when i see them nursing, the little babies. I've been breastfeeding someone for pretty much a decade now.

When we were moving last year, i Kon Maried my clothes. If it didnt bring me joy, off it went. I tried unsuccessfully to sell them at our garage sale to the all of five people that showed up. Well, today I got them back out of the bag in storage and spent some time with my sewing machine. I made a very short dress into a skirt. Took in some too big shirts at the seams, made a shirt into a skirt for Lexa. So much for paring things down, ha!

August 19

Listening to the birds chirping, Hugh and I the first ones up, watching humming birds flitting about.

Sitting in the river, listening to the cicadas buzzing while Timmy, Lexa and Will play pretend together. Timmy was Dragon Lord, and Lexa was Queen of Dragons. They rule rule the dragon kingdom on the moon. Will gets his piwer from the sun, where he lives with his robots.

Going for a hike with Timmy, talking about plants.

Finally finished reading Swiss Family Robinson to Timmy. Then Timmy went and drew his own island in minecraft style with place names for everything like in the book.

Very yummy guacamole.

Sipping sweet tea on the porch

Hugh said bubble today. (Buh buh)

When i start singing Hugh stops whatever he's doing and starts vigorously shaking his head, "no" at me until i stop.

August 20

Will getting so excited tgat tomorrow is his first day of preschool! I'm so glad he's so happy about it.

Tomorrow the kids are going back to school! It's been a great and special summer, but i need a break and a new routine!

Hugh and i woke up first again and had a nice walk. They rushing river is so pretty.

A nice long Subday lunch while High slept in my lap.

Getting back to writing on this blog, finally!

I forgot to take my chair down to the river, so i sat in an inner tube. It was one with a backrest and a bottom and it turns out, better than a chair. I loved just lounging there in the water while the kids played.

Timmy caught a baby lizard and made him a "lizard house" in a tree out of sticks as we were packing up to come back home.

Walking back into our place when we got home. I really do love it.

I love seeing the kids all cleaned and combed and in their pajamas at night.

I sorted all their new school supplies into their backpacks. I love new school supplies, new spiral notebooks, pens and map pencils!

Crawling into bed exhausted, if only Hugh would fall asleep faster!

August 21
Will was so excited when he woke up and got to go to school. They all popped out if bed right away. (That never happens.) Will was ready to jump in the car and go while Patrick wasn't even out of the shower yet.

He loved his first day. He's so excited that he gets to go back again tomorrow!

Timmy and Lexa were also happy about their first daus as i picked them up from school.

Hugh has figured out how to take off his clothes, and I can't keep them on him! Today he took off his shorts and diaper, and I found him walking around withb his shorts on his head.

August 22
Will looks so cute in his new school clothes, lots of plaid shorts!

Listening to the Hamilton musical in the car again. I hadn't played tgat in awhile.

I cleaned out the van andgot the horrible smell out. Patrick identified it correctly- rotting milk. It was in Will's cup holder. I also cleared out a load of laundry, a bag of trash, a few dishes and a bag of toys. (It had inly been a month since I last cleaned it!) Nice to have at decluttered car tgat doesn't stink now.

Wanda gave me some clothes Patrick's cousin was getting rid of. I've been enjoying wearing them. I wore a nice new summer dress today.

Patrick says I'm looking better everyday. Getting in shape is finally working! I feel great too.

I was nominated and voted in as president of the PTA. It was nice when they all enthusiastically raised their hands to vote me in. They just needed someone.

Lexa enjoys her flag football practice. She was laughing as they chased each other around hrabbing at their flags.

August 23
I got the Saloon (our living room) picked up. Alot of clutter had accumulated with the kids home all month! One cleanibg task checked off. I'm making progress.

I played tractor and fire truck with Hugh, madehim smile.

Hugh still loves to be pulled around in the wagon.

Lexa's homework was to decorate the cover of her notebook. It was fun helping her glue fabric and sparkly stickers to it.

Timmy's being coopertive and knows his multiplication tables so far.

I woke Will from his nap by reading him Hortin Hears a Who. He slowly opened his eyes, and sat up more and more by the end of it.

Will didn't want to go to flag football practice, but afterwards said how fun it was. He was running as fast as his little legs could go, roaring.

August 24
Hugh picking up rocks and putting them in the wagon during our walk this morning. He takes these nig marching steps which is so cute

I got to finish my yoga before it was time to pick someone up from school, the first time that happened all week.

i had a few minutes before time to pick up Will, was about to pick up my phone, but instead asked Hugh to bring me his books to read ti him. He loves books!

I ran out of time in the morning, and then got hot and tired in the afternoon after lunch, as usual, and felt bad about not getting any housework done. I feel like I salvaged it later by spending an hour before cheer practice sorting and putting away all the laundry.

Will lookibg at books in the car

Will was excited and proud to learn how to do the running on a log thing on the playground equipment

Hugh was laughing at Timmy pushing him and Will on the swings. He thought that was so funny.

Watched The Office with Patrick last night. Hadn't watched that in a long time. It was really nice to relax with something funny at the end of the day.

August 25

First trip to the grocery store since the kids are back in school. It was nice to restock all the things that had run out over the summer. Lotion, sunblock, hair bands, diaper wipes, multivitamins, new underwear, backup paur of shoes for Hugh. Check!

I like working out outside, even if I need to bring a fan out. It makes me happier than in.

Will picked out a book from the library because he thought Timmy would like it. It had a picture a dog with a bunch of kittens crawling all over him on the cover.

Timmy had this creation on his arm when I drove up to puck him up from school.

Patrick brought home tamales for dinner.

He also discovered there are Dr. Who episodes on Amazon video that we hadn't realized are there. So we finally watched one. Looking forward to watching about three seasons to catch up on.

August 26
There's a hurricane on the coast so it's not hot, but wondy instead. Kept waiting for it to rain, but it never did.

Lexa saved 17 peach slices for Timmy for when he woke up in the morning.

I finally took the nap I've been wanting all week. I woke up feeling great! Finally not tired.

I took the day off from housework. That was nice.

I wore my new purple tank top with a big sequin heart on it. It reminds me of Lexa's clothes. Everyone liked it.

Timmy watched Swiss Family Robinson since we finally finished that book.

August 27
A little airplane kept flying over us while High and I were having breakfast.

Whenever you ask Will to sing a song he pretty much always sings, "I love Mama, Iove Mama, I love Mama.."

We ate lunch out at the Italian place in Uvalde. Yum!

Patrick helped Lexa finish her decorating her journal homework. It came out extra snazzy! I should have taken a photo. She put on photos of things she likes: my little pony, horses, super girl, Elsa, hearts, Dr. Who, baking, the word Dream, Dream Big, a picture of her family, a picture from Sara's wedding, and a picture of her proud and confident jn her cheerleading costume.

Then everyone took a nap! It was so quiet. Hugh cuddled up with me on the couch.

I've been reading one of these Motherhood Around the World articles at each day.
https://cupofjo.com/category/motherhood/motherhood-around-the-world/
Timmy woke up and I read to him about life in Kenya, Cuba, Sweeden, and Spain. I love learning about other cultures and history.

I just grilled chedderwust weinies for dunner. For some reason those just sounded really delicious at the time. And they were!

Lexa and I watched the final of The British Baking Show. She loves that show. Timmy and Patrick roll their eyes when we turn it on. They lady Lexa was rooting for made tge final, but disn't win. Now she wants to bake cakes everyday.

Sept 1

Hugh dancing all around with Timmy toy torch, and agajn doing an arm dance at lunch, also him singing babababa in the car

Hugh wanted to put on all his shorts, all at once

Will says he doesn't ever want to get big and stop being a kid so that he can always go to his school.

Will checked out a pirate book from the library.

Hugh wanting to ride hitching post like a horse

Lexa always does her homework right away after school without even being told to.

Hugh says Dada Dada! Everytime he sees a red truck. He also kept loking out the window and saying Dada! While we were waiting at Lexa's dentist appointment.

Patrick bought the kids nerf guns and play sheilds and swords for doing well in school. They had a melee in the saloon.

Two hummingbirds at our hummingbird feeder. They're so neat to watch.

Our phone service now comes with HBO streaming, so Patrick and I have been sending the kids to bed early and watching the new season of Game of Thrones.

September 13
Finally filled out Will's birthday book. He said some cute things.

Hugh put on Will's pirate jacket and fireman hat

Hugh said apple and ow for the first time

He was running around the bedroom like a crazy man this morning. Patrick saud he was a tazmanian devil.

Timmy said he likes going to school this year.

He's excited about running for student council president.

Hugh liked to help me load clothes in the dryer but he always keeps trying to close the dryer door before we're done.

Everyone was excited about taco night.

Will kept telling me he got to ride on a school bus. He says we should get one instead of the mini van.

Sept 14
i took an afternoon nap with Hugh. It was glorious.

pulling Hugh around in the wagon
I love walking around aiur place its so pretty.

Watching bitds at the feeder i finally refilled, lots of bords chiping in the morning.

patrick texted me a video of timmy speech for the student council election. It was so moving it made me cry!

Theni got this text "Holy crap! He won!"

September 16
i laid out cheer and football uniforms the night before, so the morning went smoothly, so much calmer and easier!

Will said, @You love flows me and my love flows through you, even when we're not together."

I got to watch aggie football. I enjoyed my feast of jalepeno cheese sausage, pink dip, roasted asparagus, ribs and jalepeno poppers during the game.

i got some ice and have been loving sipping sweet ice tea on hot these hot days

There's such a thing as a slow "easy" jog for me now, at least for the first mile. I caught myself smiling while running this morning.

I bought some new coffee beans and used my grinder this morning. They smell amazing.

September 17
Hugh did an arm waving dance on the picnic table to bruce sprinstein

Got some time to myself while Patrick watched all the kids. I took a nap and finished editong a yrs worth of photos still on my camera card!

Got a good workout in this morning i was the good kind of tired afterwards. I finally did my full workout routine after being sick for a week then doing just a few weights and walking for a week easong back into it. Finally feeling better.

Sad to find out Will had broken my coffee grinder, (moment of panic when i saw i had no already ground coffee!) but then happy to discover the magic bullet will stand in.

Hugh likes to put on hars

He also likes bags.

Sept 18
Hugh and Will running around and doing somersaults while waiting at Lexa's cheer practice. Hugh kept running in circles and putting his head on the ground.

Will asked me," Would you still love me if I was a squishy bug? What if I was a big attacking dinosaur, bit I only attacked bad guys?"

Looking through the fence at all the horses next to the playground. There's at least twenty horses over there!

reading in bed last night

Sept 20
saw some friends at moms workout group i hadn't seen in awhile. I hadnt gone all summer.

Hugh seemed to be interested in the stories at storytime. They had a Hat theme.

One of the ladies the PTA meeting, said she subbed and got to work with Will today. She was telling me how cute he was in class.

Hugh played pull all the books out game at the library, but then next he played put all the books back game. Equally enjoyable for him!

Visiting with the frontier girls parents. They have millions of badges to choose from for their activities. Lexa wants to do archery, singing, and baking. I didnt hear all of Timmy's. I noticed him raising his hand for robotics and suggesting Lord of the rings for the movie one. He was raising his hand and boyncing up and down for a binch of them though. The moms were perking up at antiques and soup. Also suggesting a margarita one for the adults.

On Timmy's progress report, his teacher wrote, "He's a joy to have in class."

Spring is here!

I'm in love with spring at our new house in the country. It's so nice to see everything turning green and find out what has flowers! There's birds chirping all day all around. We've put up some bird feeders that the cardinals love. Sometimes butterflies flutter around everywhere too.
It's so pretty. The kids keep picking wildflowers and enjoying the nice morning weather playing outside.
Lexa was excited o find some blue bonnets. They're mostly done now though.
There's lantana blooming here and there.

This is the butterflies favorite spot.

Upside down

I think I have a picture of each of my kiddos like this as a toddler.

Cake!

Oh no. Hugh has figured the trick out of how to push a chair over to climb up to what he wants.

Just hanging around

I'm finally going to try (again!) to get back to our family blog. I'm realizing and accepting it's just going to be snippets of our lives here and there. It's hard for me to accept that it will be incomplete with big gaps in time, and not tell All The Stories, and use All the Pictures! It is what it is though.

I'm supposed to be "watching Will's show". He's put some chairs next to a tree, and I'm watching him hang from things.

Hugh wants to climb the tree too, just like his brother.

Lay on a cat?

I'm glad we apparently have the most laid back cats in the world.
