Moving

Patrick is apparently very unhappy with his job here and says the coaching hours, stress and being unappreciated, undervalued and passed over are taking their toll on him. Even one more year at is becoming unacceptable to him. He hasn't been able to land a school administration job locally. There's so many people wanting to live in College Station and only so many jobs, that it he would probably have to wait ten years or so before he would get an offer here. 

So he broadened his job search and was offered an assistant principal position at the middle school in  Elgin, Texas. It's about a thirty minute drive east of Austin. The pay isn't much more, but it's still a promotion and will be valuable experience. It wasn't an easy choice to make to accept it and leave our beloved home here, but at the same time, there wasn't really much choice in it for us at all. We didn't expect any other administration job offers to be coming his way, and he felt like he really couldn't stay in the job he's at now. The hardest part is that he applied for a job in Bryan, where we would be able to stay here, but they were only starting their screening and interviewing process, so we wouldn't know if he had a chance there until it would be too late to accept this one. There will always be that "what if" he had gotten one of those for me now, but we really couldn't afford to turn Elgin down and gamble on that. We're excited and so happy about the job. I'm so happy for Patrick and really looking forward to him being an assistant principal. It's really hard to leave the place I love though.

We have been driving back and forth to Elgin almost daily to find a place to live  and made an offer on a house there. It's very nice and I'm looking forward to living in it. We will hopefully close on it at the end of the month. Then the enormous and expensive project of moving will begin. A bright spot is that we will be very close to my sister in Austin, so she will be able to have a bigger part in our lives! Also, the drive to my parents' house will be shorter.

We will remember our time in College Station fondly. So many of our happy memories happened there. We're looking forward to this new chapter in our lives too. I'm excited about it. On to new adventures!
