Already memories in our old house seem dated, and it's feeling like a long time ago. We've settled into our new house here, even though the garage is still filled with unpacked boxes. With a baby in the house, it's seems to be all I can do is try to keep up with the regular day to day stuff, not actually unpack anymore stuff on my own.. The kids are adjusting and getting used to our lives here. They missed our old house for awhile. Lexa specifically said so several times and Timmy wanted to make things like they were. (Even the bad stuff. He wanted a cockroach-making machine!) They said they really miss our old backyard and the big trees. We were driving through Elgin one day, and they asked why we couldn't have gotten a house on the road we were driving down. When I asked why, they said because these houses have big trees. Timmy is convinced that his new school is just not as much fun,, not that it's just the difference of being in first grade instead of kindergarten now. Lexa really wanted to go to St. Thomas again. First she wanted to drive there, then she wanted it moved here. She still talks about her old classmate, Nawal. (She says Duval.) She really wants to visit her. (We had never actually played with her outside of school when we lived there.) One day she told me she wanted to take swimming lessons and play soccer here so that she can do things like she did in College Station. It took her a few weeks to get used to her new school and her new teacher which she was calling "the new Ms. Casares". They do like having their own rooms with just their own stuff in them and they like going for walks down the sidewalk and the neighborhood park. They're both making good friends at their schools as well.
