Getting stronger
Lexa rolled over the other day! She's also been trying to touch things. At first I thought she was just brushing her hand against her lion on accident, but she keeps doing it.
Thinking about what made me smile today:
When my little baby girl looked up at me and gave me a great, big smile. I'm falling in love with her more and more everyday. She's so sweet and happy. Timmy was making up a story that I couldn't understand, something about a dog, a spider and a beast?, and pretending that a box was a hat, and he stood in the front of the room and waved goodbye to everyone at story time, came home and waved hello to his toy cars. He actually tried to share a ball at playgroup and hugged me and said "Mommy loves you." (You means me in Timmy-speak.) Then Patrick sent me a nice text message for no reason.

Goofy grin

Surprise! I have a bunch of pictures of her looking surprised. I think the camera surprises her.
Thank goodness for the swing. Lexa loves it, and I love having a place to put her down to deal with Timmy or attempt to eat something. She likes it so much more than Timmy did. He liked the bouncy chair more. She's such a sweet, easy, baby. If Lexa had been born before Timmy, we would have been worried that there was something wrong with Timmy, all that fussing and crying. I'm sure Lexa will probably make up for it when she's a teenager.

All ready to go. We SO love living in College Station. It's really nice to have choices about where to go, what to go do. We've been going to playgroups, La Leche League, Moms club, toddler story time, music class. Patrick's been able to have game nights on Thursdays, thinking about doing SCA again after football season, but not sure how that's going to work with kiddos. College Station is just feels so much more alive than Bay City. I drive around and then think, Hey, we live here, and just feel so happy. I don't think Timmy misses our old house at all. This one is so much better. He has room to run around, his own room. He calls it our big white house, and he's learned a new word - garage. I think he does miss Granny and Grandpa, and visiting their house. But I needed the space, it's a better job, a better city, and, overall, we're in a much better place now. :)

I accidently color coordinated the kids' clothes today.

Baths, Naps and Bubbles

Look! He's blowing his own bubbles.

Aunt Sara came to visit and met Lexa for the first time. They both like to sleep. When they woke up, Sara and I had a great at home spa day together. Yay for sister time.

Timmy likes to put all his cars in the bath. There's lots more sunk on the bottom that you can't see. It seems a little crowded in there to me.

So much happening, so tired, so busy

I'm going to try to catch up on this blog, finally. Being home alone with the two kids has been challenging, sometimes exhausting and wonderful. It's especially difficult to leave the house with them. I tried out our new dualie stroller this morning, and I LOVE it. I was really missing having a stroller. Lexa is a sweet little baby. She doesn't cry much and spends lots of time sleeping in her swing. She had to get shots yesterday and only cried for a couple of seconds. She's been smiling and cooing at me. Timmy's been having a rough time. He's getting better with Lexa most of the time. He doesn't try to hit or kick her as much, mostly tries to poke her eyes now, but he's also sweet sometimes and wants to hold her and play with her, and he kisses her all the time. He's been taking naps again this week which is helpful.

Holding the kids

A week before school started, Patrick had one last job interview, and he got the job. So this month we've been looking at rental houses, packing up and moving, and here we are in College Station! It's so great. I love it already. Patrick likes work so far and loves the people he's working with. It's going so well. He said the first week of school was a blast. We didn't know how much we loved living in College Station until we left it. We're so happy to be back. It's where we want to be. We've really been enjoying the new house as well. It's on a busy street, but it has 3 bedrooms, a dishwasher, a bathtub, a mailbox, a front yard, a huge backyard, a garage, counterspace in the kitchen, everything we'll never take for granted again. It's nice and bright too.

Happy Birthday to us

Patrick was hoping Lexa would be born on July 7th, and she was. She's already decided to be a Daddy's girl. So Lexa's birthday is July 7th, mine is on July 14th, a week later, and Patrick's is July 21st, two weeks later. Timmy's been enjoying all the cake.

On my birthday, Patrick took Timmy to the store, told him it was Mommy's birthday and asked him what to get me. Timmy said, "Birthday cake! Balloon! Birthday hat!" I thought it was neat that he understood it was my birthday and bought something for me for the first time.

Timmy Remembers He's Two

Timmy's been having a rough time. He's been hitting us and trying to hit Lexa, and throwing tantrums all day. It was so hard that first week with Lexa home. He would have a good day, then a bad day. We started time outs, and they're working. He's doing so much better now and seems to enjoy helping to fetch diapers. He wanted to help me pick her up when she was crying yesterday. He still tells me "Mommy, put Lexa up." and points to the bassinet when he wants me to play with him and gets the frustrated look on his face if I can't and sometimes wants me to carry him or hold him when I'm holding Lexa, especially if I'm also talking on the phone. He's started clinging on to my leg sometimes too. This week he's gotten much more peaceful and seems to be getting used to Lexa. Yay!
